I disagree with your assessment. As proven time and again, many
parents do not see beyond immediate circumstances, either, and many
"children" have to fend for themselves. But the topic was your
misinterpretation of Obama's stance on S403. Again, he said:
"Some States have parental consent laws, some don't. In my particular
State, it has been voted down because my people feel that if you ask
them, "Do they want their kids to come to their parents?",
absolutely. But if you ask them, "Should you force them to do so,
even in circumstances where there could be trouble that comes from
that?", they say no."
That is no way implies that he "believes it is just fine" to smuggle
children across state lines for abortions against their parents'
will. What it does is leave an option for a "child" for which
seeking a parent's consent is not an option, as in when the child may
be beaten, kicked out onto the streets, or worse, even killed. If
parents have the kind of relationship wherein their children talk to
them, they will come talk to them. But Obama's and his people's
position is that you cannot impose a tragic situation upon a child
who does not live under such rosy circumstances.
