I did remember, from my pharmacology, that coumadin has quite a few
significant interactions with other meds. I just looked up coumadin
in my long term care prescribing guide and found that it is
potentiated ( made stronger) by quite a few things including 'thyroid drugs".
And I have another med question for the group - has anyone ever heard
of diovan, an angiotensin receptor blocker, having effects on thyroid
status, due to unintended effect on thyroid receptors? I know that a
lot of hormonal issues have to do with receptors. I have high blood
pressure and my new insurance company just made me switch from diovan
to lisinopril. There are some folks who believe that diovan is good
for anyone with autoimmune conditions due to it's generalized
anti-inflammatory effect.
