Nancy:
I appreciate your comments. However, I do not have any real symptoms that I know of. Hopefully waiting 3 months will not be a major problem on my system. If I should have any symptoms I will get to the doctor immediately, and she will treat me -- that is not a problem with me.
Did you (or does anyone out there recommend that you) go to a specialist? Others on the list indicated that I should get an interpretation of my T3 and T4 readings. As far as I know my doctor did not do tests for that. Are therer perhaps different treatments, different causes, etc. that would really require a specialist to resolve what the problem is before prescribing. I believe that my doctor was just going to go with synthroid (or whatever) because she said it was lifelong treatment. I understand that such treatment essentiall shuts down the natural functioning of the thyroid. Is that correct.
Hoping some others will jump in here -- I have a lot more questions.
Thanks -- dave
