I'm sorry about your pregnancy loss. I had several miscarriages when I
didn't have enough thyroid meds.
I have hashi and I'm 7 months into this pregnancy and things seem to be
going very well. I take Armour and t-3. I also used natural
progesterone cream during the first trimester when I had bad cramping
and I feared miscarriage. My doc lowered my meds nearing the end of my
first trimester because my tsh was undetectable and my heart rate seemed
a bit high. I was a bit unsure about the move, but I did feel like my
heart rate had started racing a bit during that last week (I have a
vague memory of reading that that was the time when the baby's thyroid
kicks in?). Not long after I got terrible bacterial bronchitis and only
got better after a round of antibiotics which is a very rare solution in
my life. Due to the illness and my sense of being I upped my meds on my
own and during a subsequent visit informed her of this and my reasons
for it. Thankfully she didn't squawk and saw the wisdom of my
reasoning. I hunted the land for this one!
Your endo sounds like someone I'd run from and pull out my visa card if
other docs wouldn't take my health insurance.

Why safer? ???? What was his reasoning? I haven't heard anything
about that.

I'm not getting blood tests every month. I pay attention to how I'm
feeling. I'd hate to have the tests get in the way of focusing on my
body and my symptoms.
I cannot swap doctors, so
> what should I do?
If it were me --- I'd get out my visa and find a new doc. Well that
*is* what I have done and I'm self insured with a whopping deductible.
If you can't afford it then sell the car, cancel the cable TV, move to a
cheaper house! Health insurance shouldn't stand in your way. Nothing is
worth the hell of bad health and a bad doctor who won't listen to you.
You might find a good one at this link. I'd still interview before
teaming up with one for your thyroid management.

I imagine it is hell. Actually, I know how bad it is. Get decent help
at all costs.
Also look at this to see the wisdom of keeping that tsh low and
hopefully suppressing those antibodies during pregnancy. My last child
was born with a cleft. I'm hoping that my low tsh and suppressed
antibodies will work for a child who is ok.

I don't know where my link is that talks about keeping the tsh low to
suppress antibodies. I may have seen it in an interview with the
Thyroid Power doc on Mary's about.com site.
