I was just on a course of cipro, I have a skin infection a lot like anthrax,
but not tested for that or anything else because doctors are morons (or as
the president of a lab told me the FBI set the criteria for who would be
tested and I had no known point of exposure.) I took augmentin for a couple
weeks first, I only took cipro for 3 days and it didn't take long to feel
something was wrong. I almost collapsed from exhaustion and felt strange in
other ways, so I checked out the side effects. On checking out the side
effects they put what I was feeling into words, I was feeling shortness of
breath, pressure in the brain, agitiation, tremors, and nervousness. Not to
mention one of the most important symptoms to me is inability to work.
I discontinued cipro and went back to augmenten, because those side effects
can be dangerous. However, I do wonder if the real problem is that cipro
affects thyroid absorption. I'm on T3 only, before thyroid treatment I
normally had the shortness of breath and some other mild symptoms I"ve not
listed. I never had the pressure in the brain as a symptoms, but when I
thought of that one, my wife used to complain of a similar problem. She
never really said she had headaches but used to talk about the pressure in
her head. I thought she was just referring to tension but now I know better.
Therefore, if you feel pressure in your brain or pressure in your head, it
may be a thryoid symptom. Or a sign you're on cipro and you need to get off.
On the cipro side effect list, in the same paragraph as pressure in the
brain was seizures. I believe that was an indication of the severity of the
pressure symptom. Maybe pressure first then seizure. I didn't want to find
out personally.
I noticed the other drug approved for anthrax doxycycline, hasn't nearly as
many or as dangerous of side effects. I still wonder on the cipro how ones
"tendons rupture' and "circulatory system collapses." The authorities are
right, without a possiblity of inhalational anthrax in your system, it's a
good idea to avoid taking the drug. If people are taking it just in case,
the drug itself is capable of killing them. I will say the extreme redness
in my skin infection is pretty much gone after taking it for that period of
time, but if it flares back up now that I'm on augmentin, I will be asking
for doxycycline and that may be a better choice against skin anthrax which is
a lot less likely to be fatal, it is in about 20% of untreated cases, but
does respond to penicillin products normally. With inhalational anthrax,
statements say neither antibiotic has been proven more or less effective so
if that's really true, I would say doxycyline first for that also. However,
it is possible doctors or pharmacists know which is really superior.
Just be careful with all drugs, because they can kill, and if you have
pressure in the head or brain when you're not on antibiotics or other drugs
think of possible under treated thyroid.
