Tom, actually the TW1 runs on 12v DC.  However you get it you get it.
2.  Yes you can leave it in line at all times.
3.  it will handle 1000 watts, but it is as accureate at 5 watts, so it will 
tune QRP radios as well.
If you push in a button and hold it, you get a series of short beaps.  Now 
it is a tone fluctuating oscillator.
4.  As you face the unit, with the connectors at the back, radio on the left 
antenna on the right.
