Tom,

I've compared the receiver on my 480 with my Icom R75, and the R75 is 
quieter, which makes the signals stand out more, especially when they're 
weak.  I also wish the 480 had a wider transmit SSB filter, which would make 
the audio a little less restricted, and I think they could have done a bit 
better with the DSP.  Trouble is, it's probably the best radio on the market 
in terms of ease of operation, which is why I'm willing to put up with its 
other shortcomings.  Then again, I'm not a serious contester or DX chaser. 
If I were, I'd probably want something better, and I might be willing to 
give up some accessibility.
