Hi All,

Thanks to Tom Behler, who sent me a copy of the software, I've been checking
it out. Although this program is much more primitive than the one from
Kenwood, it has some interesting potential for anyone who wants to take on a
programming challenge.

Apparently, the author was experimenting with software control of the
TH-F6A. The program presents several buttons which you can navigate with
the Tab key. You can turn the backlight on and off, key the radio, select
modes on the B receiver (FM, AM, USB, etc.), toggle between the A and B side
of the radio, switch between Memory and VFO, and switch between displaying
memory names and frequencies. As far as I could tell, you cannot change
frequency, or manage memory contents. I don't think the PTT button worked
because I had the radio in PC mode so it could send and receive data through
the PC cable, and I believe PTT is disabled at that point. I was surprised
to find that the program can display the VFO or Memory frequency, depending
on whether I pressed the Memory or VFO button. I didn't realize that the
radio could send frequency readout data to the computer, but apparently it
can.

I doubt this software will be very useful to any of us, but I think it was
probably a great learning experience for the author, and it certainly
indicates that more can be done through the PC interface than I realized.

Steve
