I have, Tom.  I own 3 ASTRONs My oldest is 34 years old and still working 
except for the power light.  I had one that failed at about 18 years ago but 
has been restored and placed on the reserve shelf.  That one caused the same 
problem you had, ie, output on my older Kenwood 440 dropped causing me to 
replace the rig thinking it had failed.
