How long is the original mic cable?

I may just order the mic extension cable just to be sure.

Also, how much space would you recommend for the radio in terms of proper 
ventilation?  I'm thinking of putting it in a storage bin underneeth the 
dining table area, but will make ventilation holes as needed.
