Hi John, (hope to get that meter to you soon) -
Anyway, do you want a transceiver or just a general
coverage receiver? In either
case you will want a rig with computer control (most
HF transceivers today do). I have the IC-718
transceiver and it is a great
entry level transceiver. If it's a receiver your
looking for then the Icom R75 is a good entry level at
around $600 with dsp plus
whatever filter you add. Or go all out and the get
AOR 7030+ receiver at around $1500! I've also seen
the Drake R8 listed on this
group and it would make a great receiver for around
$400 or less depending on options and condition.

Google rffun.com, radiointel.com and eham.net for
reviews of these rigs and many others.

73, Ken -N5SWR

Subject: Recommendation for reciever

Please recommend a good ham receiver for me. I'm going
for the
Technician
license first, but I would like the receiver to cover
the general bands
as well. How much would it cost?

Thanks,
John
