Thanks John, budget is prime consideration until my eldest daughter's
wedding 8 September. Seems not to be much around the various used and
classified sites as of 2 weeks ago. Perhaps the housing sales slump is
already been reached in the used ham market.

your best bet is still the kenwoods with or what out speech. I guess the
others are alright if you want to program it once and never again, but I
don't think there are any out there you can set PL tones or anything on
long trips or what ever. 2 meter only there are but not duel band that I
know of.
