yep.
And now with the rj45 connecters being used, it is even harder to wire up
your own mike jack cleanly.
I simply got a friendly ham to look at the pin out of the older 4 or 8 pin
mike jacks, and tell me in a clock wise, top to bottom manner, what each pin
was for.
Now, with rj45 connecters, even if you have the crimping tool, its terribly
finicky and difficult to make sure that the wires are being crimped in the
right place...
I guess a guy could take a short RJ45 to RJ45 cable, usually used to go from
the router to the lan card on a computer, cut it, and then use a continuity
meter to figure out which wires went to which pins on the jack....
Then by use of a couple momentary mini toggles, you could have your up and
down buttons, and probably even the PF keys if a guy got fancy enough.
Radio shack has some nice hamend boxes for projects like that, sometimes
even predrilled.
I think the PF keys use combinations of resisters to decide the functions,
and It really wouldn't be hard at all to build one using a hamend box, some
momentary one way toggle mini switches and some inteligent design.
I can get the parts probably for less then 20 bucks.
If the PF keys are indeed controled in such a simple manner, I'll will
seriously look into building such a thing.
If not, then it might be more difficult.
