Are you running System Restore?  If it won't return to a previously good 
starting point, maybe you disabled system restore.

I assume then that you can't reboot?  You may need to actually do a complete 
re-install of XP.  You should be able to backup your hard drive's contents 
first.

Subject: OT An On-line List For PC Questions


Does anyone know of an on-line group wher computer questions may get
answered?  My Windows XP Home will not return to a previously successful
start even though they are and it starts the process.  Half way through, it
tells me it can't complete the process and that it is returning to today's
settings without taking any action.

Wonder if MicroSoft would offer assistance without charging a fortune.
