- someone suggested ,a while back, that I try B12 lozenges for leg cramps as I already took calcium and magnesium. I take one daily and if I forget I get cramps and if I take it regularly I don't.

(Both I have used are in house brands for a local pharmacy and a health food store. It is quite a common product - just be sure it is gluten free)
- I guess I'm lucky something as cheap & readily available as table salt is my solution. I've tried everything else you can imagine & absolutely nothing works for me except salt. And, the odd part is, everything else including magnesium, calcium, potassium, protein snacks at bedtime, stretching, heating pads, trace mineral supplements, B vitamins, etc. either don't help or actually make it worse. I think it's the weirdest thing that one common symptom, leg cramps, will have a half dozen solutions that are different for every body.
Thanks for sharing. Hopefully liq. calcium is someone else's magic bullet, too.
The other thing I find crazy is that at one time potassium supplements WERE the solution for me. Eventually it didn't work & that's when I went on a desparate search for a solution. I only discovered the salt thing by accident.
- Please do not forget that there are other diseases out there. I have
Nocturnal Myoclonus, which is to say that my leg muscles contract and pull
my legs and feet into strange positions. Do not feel pain or cramping with
these muscle contractions, but other people might. I can walk them off if I
walk long enough, but if I let them progress, the worst experience I have
ever had was lying on the floor with my whole body going into spasms. That
was uncomfortable, I have to admit. There are several medications out there
that work very well on this condition. My family doctor, and several other
specialists could not diagnose it, but a Rheumatologist recognized it and
treated it.
- What causes the leg cramps? I know, for me, eating any kind of sugar sets off a terribly itch rash on my legs and severe muscle cramps in my lags and feet all night. Eating the salt helps, but about 4 AM mild cramps begin to wake me.
What is there about sugars (any kind--fruit, soft drinks, sweet vegetables, etc.) set them off. I avoid these sugars, but almost everything has at leas 1 gram of sugar per serving.. My favorinte, kinnikinnick dark sandwich bread has 2 grams per serving and I ge mild itches on my back, hairline and the place where eyelashes come out from the eyelid.
