If this new doctor is not using the newer thyroid reference ranges, in your
opinion, would that be an indication to keep looking?

If your new doctor pays more attention to ANYTHING, than to you; I'd get a
new doc, ASAP,
You would be much more likely to be helped, if you doc ignored the labs than
if he ignored the History and Examination.
The accuracy of lab work varies over an extremely wide range; and at best,
the lab doesn't make a diagnosis, it just approximates the amount of a
chemical in your blood. And, that chemical may, or may not be related to the
diagnosis.
In my opinion at this time, and in the USA; there is at least as much
Hypothyroidism missed or inappropriately treated than there is Hypothyroidism that
is adequately treated.
Dr. Amen alludes to that in "The Thyroid Solution," and Ken Blanchard says
pretty much the same thing in "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About
Hypothyroidism."
Don't worry. You still have that prayer and my office number.
Doc
