to add to what skipper is saying, if the elevated cholesterol is a
symptom (as it almost always is), suppressing it with a drug is
pointless and in fact harmful over the long term.  elevated
cholesterol and liver enzyme readings are commonly documented in
hypothyroid and wilson syndrome patients, and are said to lower when
the patient is adequately treated for the thyroid condition.
