Dear Doc Don,
Thanks for your inspiring words. I never really looked at why we have pain, but what your minister said makes perfect sense. It is true that the best healers, the ones that can heal soul-deep, are those who have felt the pain first hand. I would never wish it on anyone, ever, but it is true.
I was not diagnosed with Hashis until my early thirties. It was the same with my APD (auditory processing disorder-difficulty making sense of oral speech). I was just that fat lump of a kid with her mouth perpetually open, eyeballs bulging who couldn't read or keep up with the normal flow. I was stupid and put in special education. The pain of those memories still haunts me-as a result, I now work to locate and provide services for children with APD (and thyroid problems if I can find them).
You have helped so many people, Doc-out of your pain, another's psyche is spared. I believe this is true.
Laurie
