Dear Kim and Thyroid Folks,

>normal, my T3 and T4 would be normal (This is where I

Hmmm. Sounds like this guy would monitor the speed of
an automobile by looking at the ammeter (or possibly the
gas gauge), rather than the speedometer. My guess is that
he is:

        1. oversimplifying an inherently complex system
        2. deliberately missing some important clues
        3. relying too greatly on an imperfect measure
        4. driving someone else's car

I'm still very curious about WHY these guys are avoiding
knowing the whole truth. Does anyone have practical
(based on common human motives) reasons why doctors,
in order to monitor thyroid health, will avoid the blood tests
that measure thyroid-produced hormones and look, instead,
at just one pituitary-produced hormone?

Does it sell more synthetic T4 thyroid hormone?

Does it create more profit in the endocrinologist-owned
laboratories?

Is it 'easier' to "manage" (ignore) patients than to treat patients?

Do they just have a pituitary fetish?

If you want to see things on the right side of the car,
why not turn to the right, rather than turning left and
holding up a cloudy mirror?

I hope this helps.

 Pax,
