Greetings, everyone.  HELP!

I was diagnosed as hypothyroid three years ago (finally)...but only after I
fasted a full afternoon and evening before my standard blood tests the next
day.  Dr. didn't seem to care about symptoms.  He prescribed .125
Synthroid...never called me back for re-tests; until I finally called them a
year later for one.  The test showed my TSH was "within normal range"... so
he wouldn't change my prescription.  I''ve stayed on the same meds for three
years; and feel that my health has gone downhill.  I'm tired (overly so),
can't lose weight, no libido, dry skin, aches/pains, no energy, brain
fog..and concentration problems.  I've never improved for three years; and
actually feel worse.

I went in yesterday for a workup....but I received a "lecture" for about 1
hour on everything from why he doesn't believe in giving women a  CA 125
ovarian cancer screening (which I requested..due to my family history, and
current health issues) to why he would not put me on Armour ("there is NO WAY
to know the strength of what you're getting in those tablets...each cow or
pig is different - dessicated thyroid..so each pill is different!..AND, I''d
rather rule out other things than change your medication for thyroid.  It
might not be thryoid at all!")  He then went on and on like I was an idiot.
He said "too many women get their information from Ann Landers; but Ann
Landers is not the expert when it comes to medicine!"  AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!  I
tried to discuss with him Mary's website, her research and the wonderful
books I've read, and all of the information....and he said there is entirely
too much "incorrect information out on the internet; that unless I was
looking up info on the Mayo Clinic website...he didn't care to hear about it.

Believe me....I have had it...and am not sure what to do.   I'm on a state
insured network system.  It seems the Dr.s in this town who all participate
don't want to refer anyone out of town; to specialists, or what not.  Of
course, I end up paying a lot more to go elsewhere.

If ANYONE out there has had a good personal experience with a Dr. in South
Dakota (with thyroid issues, as well as in general), can you email the list?
I'm
desperate...so I'm sure others here must be too! Thanks.

Rosemary
