I have good news! Many of you know that due to severe pain from severe tightness in my legs, due to several car accidents in the 1990s, I have not been able to walk. Last year I was in even worse shaape as I hurt my hip, and it was so tight it hurt to get in the car because the seat in the car was the wrong angle. So, I was in a lot of pain, and ever-increasing pain medication did little to help. I tried Feldenkrais, Massage, Acupuncture, hot tubs, PT, nothing worked. Xrays finally showed that my hip was so tight that it was pulling everything out of alignment. I was seriously depressed. Then I remembered the spasticty clinic in Berkeley. I was finally able to get in to be evaluated by the PT's, they couldn't do anything with me because everything caused me so much pain. They recomended I try the ITB pump, aka the Baclofen pump. It has an 87 percent positive response in folks with CP, 95 percent positive response in people with SCI. Before they open you up to put in the
pump, they test it, by injecting Baclofen into the spine. It worked very well for me, so in December 2006, I had the surgery. And now, three months later, I am walking with a walker in PT! After I get more practice walking on different surfaces, they will give me a walker to take home. On thursday, I walked about 30 feet...
