The other option, ia a bad power supply, which probably causes more than
80% of all failure problems with old machines. The original PSU's are almost
always the cheapest available, and almost all die after 3-4 years at best.
The symptoms don't quite suggest that but, the old rule about think horses
not zebras may apply.
