Hello List Mates,
I am sitting here getting terrible gut pains thanks to "pre-medicating" with about 6 erythromycins (I believe they were 100 mgs. each.) My dentist says I have to take this very high does of antibiotics right before any dental work due to risk of bacterial infection to my heart. I have mitral valve prolapse and comprised immune system and therefore fit the criteria.
However, I hate doing it because it wreaks havoc on my intestinal system. Since I am sure I have leaky gut I wonder what all those antibiotics are doing to my system, not to mention what it does to my gut flora.
Do any of you have any experience with premedicating with antibiotics before dental work? If so, what do you take and does it put you in bed for a day or so afterwards?
Thanks,
Maren
