Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:15a
"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus
came into the world to save sinners" NIV

This is a story about a creative candy maker who was preparing for Christmas
many years ago --- as he was rushing around baking, cutting and assembling
candy for shipment --- suddenly he stopped. He looked up at the bright
twinkling stars and the glistening snow and said a prayer.

Father will you inspire me to create a special candy that would be a witness
to the whole world for your son Jesus Christ. Amen.

The creative candy maker smiled and once again started his candy making
process --- suddenly an idea popped into his head. He could see this special
candy in his minds eye. He envisioned several symbols for the birth,
ministry and death of Jesus Christ.

He reached into his candy selections and picked a pure white stick of very
hard candy. He figured white could symbolize the sinless nature of Jesus.
The hardness could symbolize Christ as the foundation of the Church.

The creative candy maker molded the stick of candy in the form of a "J". The
"J" could represent the precious name of Jesus our Savior.

As the creative candy maker surveyed his creation he was not satisfied. He
then ingeniously added some red stripes. He thought three small stripes
could show the blood Jesus shed for us when he was scourged. The large red
stripe could represent the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that we
could have the promise of eternal life.

The creative candy maker was elated with his creation and set out to give
everyone a sample. Over the years his inspired invention spread all around
the world.

Today now every time you see a Candy Cane you'll know that it was made by
the creative candy maker to reflect Jesus.

Prayer: Father thank you for a wonderful reminder of what Jesus did for me
in every Candy Cane I see. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
