Phil, my wife, Anna, is the OLB guru around here.  She says:

F9 should take you to the "Selections Preferences" (under the Library 
drop-down menu), and in the first tab (Versions) be sure the top 
portion of the box has a check mark in front of "AV" and that will be 
your default version when opening/using OLB.  Also in the last tab of 
this window there is a section entitled "Show Tabs."  Be sure you 
have a check mark in front of the AV selection
