Greetings,

Rather than go through it all over again, I paste the text of a message sent
to another UK list, think it explains all.

Greetings,

When I was installing AVG V8.0 free edition (latest from site can't remember
rest of number) reached first run wizard, could not get out of set updates
with mouse (Jaws) or invisible cursors, or normal pc cursor. Kept goi9ng
round the listbox to set the time for updates then to the checkbox for daily
updates ands back and round and round and back and . . . on reading the
dialogue with insert and b, it read that there were other buttons but I
could not get to them. I checked what was loaded and found default settings
loaded. I even reloaded Jaws, no go. So, what on *earth* do I do to see
these dratted buttons?

I may well unload the program and reload it (making sure, first, of course,
I am disconnected first) as I saved the program into my c:\attachments
folder.

It has been suggested (on another list) I use AVAST, I paste here the two
replies I sent to the posts advising me of this.

Chris,

I had another message on the AVIOS list which I paste below, I may well go
look at that site later, but would be interested first in your feedback as
to my last message and this one.

I am going out shortly but plan to return around 17:00 so can then go
online.

Here is the message from the AVIOS list.

Greetings Colin,

I am afraid version 8 is not currently accessible with Jaws but Grisoft are
working on it but I don't expect it to be accessible until autumn. Now,
switching over to a different screen reader sounds more extreme than to
opting for a relatively more Jaws friendly anti virus software (grin) I am
currently using Avast with Jaws 9 on all my machines running XP Pro, Vista
Business and Home Premium respectively without any accessibility issues. Try
the following gem of a website to download Avast:

http://www.jaws-users.com

and you can find Avast listed on the programmes page under the heading Anti
virus software. For information, one can use "H" and "shift H" to move
between headings on this website. I think David has also put on a tutorial
on how to use Avast with Jaws on the same website. Just a word of caution,
Avast does require a visual verification code (Captcha) for registration
after 60 days of installation. If you don't have any sighted assistance just
drop Avast tech support an e-mail explaining this and they will send you the
code by e-mail which once registered allows you to use Avast for another 12
months.
