Hello fellow listers:

This morning I attempted to accept an MP3 transfer over MSN 6.2, but the
attempt was unsuccessful. The error message was "transfer timed out" which
implies that a connection was established, but I have no confidence that it
in fact was.

I'm using a linksys router here, and vaguely remember a discussion here
about a particular port needing to be opened in order for MSN transfers to
work. Can anyone tell me what that port is, and whether it needs to be TCP,
UDP, or both.

I'm using a Dell 8300, machine, 3.0GHz processor, 512MB of ram, XP with
service pack 2 operating system. I do have my norton firewall turned on, but
norton always pops up to give me options when it blocks port communications
or otherwise detects suspect activity, and since this didn't happen, I don't
believe that norton is the culprit. Am also using JAWS 5.1, though I
seriously doubt that that piece of information is relevant; nevertheless, I
like to give a complete and accurate run-down of the entire hardware and
software setup here when requesting assistance.

Thanks in advance for any help any of you may be able to render.

John McCann
