Announcing ACB's First-Ever Job Fair
Are you planning to attend this year's American Council of the
Blind's (ACB) annual convention in Orlando, Florida? Are you
looking to make a career change? Are you a soon-to-be or recent
college graduate trying to land that first job? Are you looking
for a career change?
Wherever you are in your career, the ACB Employment Committee and
the National Alliance of Blind Students (NABS) invite you to
attend ACB's inaugural job
fair at the Rosen Centre in Orlando, FL on Thursday, July 9
from 1:30 to
4:00 PM. Please check your convention newspaper for the exact
location of the event.
Confirmed employers include: The Social Security Administration,
Hyatt Hotels, National Industries for the Blind, HumanWare, the
Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation,
MaxiAids, Serotek, and the Statler Center. Each of these
employers have indicated that they anticipate hiring new people
within the next six months.
In order to take full advantage of this opportunity, please
bring:
* Multiple copies of your resume and/or business cards;
* Professional business attire;
* Something to input employer contact information and other
important data;
* Your "elevator speech," a 30 to 45-second summary of your
skills, experiences, and job expectations;
* A listening ear to determine employer needs and expectations;
and
* A positive attitude.
For additional tips, please join NABS for a 30-minute overview of
the job fair and an opportunity to practice your "elevator
speech." This event will take place on Tuesday, July 7, from
1:15 to 1:45 PM just prior to NABS' annual business meeting.
