Hello All:
I was talking with someone yesterday who asked me if I had ever heard of
or used Talking Desktop software. I said I have not. However, I've
taken a look at their website, www.talkingdesktop.com and in summary
here is what it says.
It says that Talking Desktop is a program that allows someone both to
talk to their computer and receive voice output back. The website makes
it sound like it will work with almost any program, including Microsoft
Word, Internet Explorer and others.
I'm wondering if any of you have heard of this program and if so, do you
know how usable it truly is by people who are blind or visually
impaired? The website makes mention of marketing this product to the
Assistive Technology market. It's cost is $99 plus shipping, including
a headphone/microphone. I'm also wondering if there is anyone close to
Illinois whom could demonstrate this product. I haven't called the
company, Abasoft Corporation yet. I wanted to first see what any of you
might know about this product and its accessibility and usability for
people who are blind or visually impaired.
Thanks,
Ray Campbell, Help Desk Technician
