I meant to send this to the list, in case others found it useful.

My family had Tivo for a few years, up until about a year ago, when we
got HD.

First, you can go to the TiVo web site and use their on line scheduling
to have shows recorded on your local TiVo. You can schedule both
individual shows and set up season passes. Since your local TiVo has to
periodically check with the server to see if there's anything to record,
you'll need to plan ahead a bit, especially if you're using the phone
line as opposed to a LAN. I found the web site to be totally accessible,
but remember, this was a year ago.

There's also a program called TiVo Desktop that you can use to transfer
shows from your TiVo to your PC. The transfers were incredibly slow, so
I batched them up and didn't expect to be watching anything on my PC
until at least the next day. Again, remember, this was a year ago, so
the device driver on the TiVo has probably been updated since then
allowing you slightly faster transfer speeds. The files came over as
.tivo files, and the only program I could find that would convert them
to something else was Replay Converter, except for the Sonic software
that TiVo works with. I found the TiVo Desktop application to be
completely accessible.

Note that I'm using JFW.

I know this info is a bit dated, but hopefully it'll help some I did
check the TiVo web site quickly, and I didn't notice any obvious changes.
