It means you will most likely have to re-install your sound
card drivers. Are you familiar with Windows device Manager?
There's a good chance the suspect device will show up there.
George.

Subject: [VICUG-L] what in the world does this mean?
help!!!!!!
Hi all,
Well, I really did it now.
When I click on an audio file now, no matter if it's in
windows Media player, Winamp, or what, I get this message.
"direct sound output v2.47 (d) error
bad direct sound driver. Please install proper drivers, or
select another device in configuration."
All I know is, I have no windows music now when I start my
computer, and no audio will play.
Where are these drivers at?
I'm so screwed up, I have messed this thing up.
All I get is Jaws and I can read text, but no audio!!!
Someone help!
I don't want to have to install everything again.
Tell me I don't have to install windows xp again, ok?
I do have some kind of disk that says utilities and drivers,
is that it?
Folks, what do I do?
Harry
