I use something called Logitech Music Anywhere. You can read the press
release at
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/about/pressroom/information/US/EN,CRID=1358,CONTENTID=10882.
Obviously, you can get more information and find the best prices using
Yahoo!.
It has a transmitter which plugs into your PC's USB port. There's also a
receiver with multiple output jacks including RCA jacks to plug directly
into your stereo receiver. It uses a bluetooth connection between the
transmitter and the receiver, so you get digital sound. The software for
your PC allows you to set the systems default output device or the
output device for different media players, including Real Player,
Windows Media Player and Winamp. I find the software completely accessible.
It takes a little getting used to since once you plug in the
transmitter, it becomes the default audio output device, including that
for JAWS. I use the Music Anywhere software to set the system's default
audio device back to the PC's sound card, restart JFW, and now JAWS is
using the PC speakers again. I then make sure Windows Media Player's
Audio output device is the receiver I want and then everything I play
with Windows Media Player comes out my stereo.
Note that the transmitter and the PC software support multiple
receivers. In my case, I have one receiver attached to a set of powered
speakers up stairs , and I have a pair of wireless headphones with a
receiver built in. The PC software allows me to determine the target
receiver.
Like I said, it took some trial and error getting it to work with JAWS
and the different media players, but I'm pretty satisfied. note too that
the range is something like 180 feet, which I don't understand, since
I've always heard the range for bluetooth is 30 feet.
Finally, I built my system over time by buying different products
through woot.com. I'd suggest you do some research on your own and don't
just take what I said since things may have changed since I purchased
the products I'm using. I'm sure there are also different options, such
as FM transmitters. Good luck!
