Website Associate
You can make a difference in the lives of thousands of blind 
students and adults across the U.S.!  The American Printing House 
for the Blind (APH) is the world's largest company creating 
products for people who are blind or visually impaired.
Under the direction of the Director of the APH Communications 
Dept, the Website Associate completes a wide range of tasks 
related to editing, updating, and creating content for APH's 
various websites.  This may include the informational website, 
shopping website, and social networking sites.  A significant job 
duty is the production of product information videos and other 
videos for the web.  This includes writing, shooting, editing, 
captioning, and encoding original videos.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1.      Assists APH's Website Coordinator (Webmaster) with 
website
development and maintenance.  Create web pages using HTML, CSS, 
and JavaScript; assist with maintaining/updating existing pages; 
proofread copy and make editorial suggestions; ensure that the 
content of all web pages is fully accessible to visually impaired 
users.  Position requires use of a wide variety of software for 
creating web content: image manipulation; graphic design; video 
production, etc.
2.      Takes the lead in developing new informational sub-sites 
as directed
by the Website Coordinator.  Meets with employees from various 
APH departments to initiate or revise sections of the 
informational website.
Understands needs of staff, as well as the audience who will use 
web content.
3.      Produces product videos and other videos for the web.  
This includes
writing, shooting, editing, captioning, and encoding original 
videos.  This position will also occasionally caption and encode 
videos supplied by other APH departments or out-of-house sources.
4.      Assists with the updating of APH's ecommerce site using 
Title
Management Module (TMM) database and IBM WebSphere Commerce 
(training provided by APH on these systems).
5.      Assists the Expert Database Coordinator with content 
development for
social media sites.
Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:
1.

Associate's Degree or BA/BS in computer information systems, web 
design, graphic design, video production, or a related 
arts/humanities field such
as:  English, communication, fine arts, art history.
2.

Must possess two to three years experience in web design or 
graphic design.
3.      A high degree of creativity, coupled with technical 
skills and
problem solving skills.  Strong organizational skills, with 
extreme attention to detail.
4.      Strong interpersonal skills used in working with a 
variety of
in-house clients, supervisors, in-house and outsourced staff 
members.
5.      Ability to write and edit well.
6.      Ability to "hand code" standards-compliant markup and 
CSS.
7.      Experience with the following software programs and codes 
on PC or
Mac platforms: HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript; Dreamweaver; 
Illustrator or Freehand; Photoshop; Acrobat.
8.      Video Production Experience in one or more of these 
areas:
Videography; Composition, lighting, movement, and sound for 
online video; Final Cut Pro or Premiere; Video compression 
methods, encoding video for web; Animation/effects work (using 
AfterEffects or Motion); Closed captioning; Audio editing; Color 
correction.
9.      Graphic Design Experience Preferred:  InDesign or Quark 
XPress;
Working knowledge of still photography.
10.     Must possess verifiable, working knowledge of Microsoft 
Office
suite, including Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint.

Compensation:

Pay Grade:    6
Minimum:    $15.86
