Well, besides me, four others responded that they had be denied coverage.
Two were able to get coverage by getting their doctors to write letters to
the insurance companies explaining that a gf diet was the only treatment
needed. A third was able to get insurance through another company, but it's
outrageously expensive -- $400/month premiums, and the deductible was just
raised to $4100. The fourth was able to get a group policy.
One person wrote that President Clinton passed a law preventing insurance
companies from rejecting people based on a genetic condition. Unless I can
prove that my damaged disc in my back is genetic, I still won't get a
private policy:) But, it's good information to know for anyone else who is
turned down where celiac is the only reason listed.
