thanks to all who answered my question about carraba's (palm beach county, florida) and the disclaimer at the bottom of the gf menu that says that grill not dedicated to gf. 

my 2 year old has celiac. my husband and i don't need to eat gf, but our child must. 

i received various responses -- some people have had bad experiences there, some not. it seems to depend on the specific restaurant -- but overall, it doesn't appear that waitstaff well-trained on gf issues. (we actually have had more positive experiences at non-chain restaurants -- we just ask for "naked meat" from a clean grill, etc.) 

the specific restaurant we went to was very busy -- and i spoke to the proprietor beforehand. when we got there, it just seemed choatic (and staff was rude). the gf disclaimer just seemed like a sign to get out. we thought we could all have a night out at a restaurant -- not worth risking it for our son.

in addition, one response said that outback and carraba's owned by same company. we haven't tried outback yet (we live in nyc), but maybe we will on next trip to palm beach county. we won't however, be returning to carraba's anytime soon.
