My husband and I will be heading to Orlando, Florida on Saturday to stay
with his parents for a week and see the area. I've read what I could find
in the archives, and I have my book from Triumph Dining listing a few more
places, and I have my dining cards, but I thought I might go ahead and see
if anyone else had been there recently or lived there and could give me some
more tips on good places to eat and/or find GF items. His parents have a
place there, so I'll have access to a kitchen for the entire time, though I
imagine they'll want to eat out a little as well. At the moment I also have
bad GERD, so anything traditionally spicy I'll have to stay way from (Thai,
Mexican, Indian....yea, I know, the ones that are easiest to get GF).
I've been there before, but it was a couple years ago, and I only got
diagnosed with Celiac this past November, so now every trip is like going
somewhere new again!
Also, my cousin is getting married in August, in Clemson, South Carolina.
I've never been there, and don't know the area or whats available. I've not
decided if I can go yet or not, and my decision is, of course, partially
dependent on what I'll be able to find to eat. Its my first big get together
with extended family since my diagnosis, however, so I feel I should go, if
only to casually bring up the issue of Celiac with extended relatives--since
I don't know which side of the family I got it from. Anyone know of many
restaurants/grocery stores in the area? I'll probably only be there for a
weekend, but I don't know if I'll have access to a kitchen. (By this point
my GERD may or may not have been mostly fixed...I'll be sending another
email regarding that though)
Any help you can give me is appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Lucy
