Oh Brad,
I just need to say a few things in response to your post about worship.
First of all, you would be wise not to spend your energy trying to bring
Texas north. For six years I tried bringing the midwest to Glenburn and
now, when I look back, it was a lot of wining on my part and a lot of
wasted energy. I understand what you are looking for. I too long for my
comfort zone of worship, and I have often felt that our people weren’t
worshiping because they weren’t worshiping in the way that I am most
appreciative of worshiping God. What I have not appreciated is how far
these people have come in learning to express themselves and this hasn’t
been from my pulling and prodding, but by my praying and letting God move
them, slowly and gently in to a more expressive relationship with Him.
This is why we all need community. I am learning to appreciate their
reservations. They’re not right and I’m not right. We just have different
comfort zones and we are learning from each other what the heart of
worship is, which is to honor christ as the center.
I know that you already know this, I just don’t want you to give up on
your new church family because they aren’t what you want them to be, but
rather to take this time as an opportunity to find out what God wants you
to learn here.
Kathy
