Like I said a minute ago, I get full output power once the antenna has been 
tuned via the internal auto-tuner.

It would be interesting to drag my old MFJ 901B manual tuner out, to see 
what happens when I use it to tune the antenna.

That'll be something to try on one of those cold winter days when I am 
looking for something to do.  HI!  HI!
