Sounds like too much exercise!  However, the more radials, the better when 
you are ground mounting.  You can get away with fewer ones when the antenna 
is elevated.  However, keep in mind that they do not have to run in a 
perfectly straight line, so you can bend them around as needed.  It might 
make some difference in the pattern, but it's unlikely that it would be a 
show stopper.
