Education Specialist for a Child Labor and Education
program in Sierra Leone and Liberia
World Education is a non-profit organization that was
founded in 1951 to develop the capacity of
individuals, community organizations, and local
non-profit organizations to address development needs
in their communities. World Education operates
projects primarily in Africa, Asia, and the United
States.
World Education is seeking an Education Specialist for
a Child Labor and Education program in Sierra Leone
and Liberia. The position is based in either Freetown
or Monrovia, with frequent travel.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in developing the technical
aspects of complex child labor and education program
in collaboration with the Project Director
Develop and/or refine formal, non-formal, vocational
and skills education programs
Lead, support and refine student assessments,
teacher training, educational materials development,
educational assessments, and other key
education-related interventions
Monitor and evaluate project performance in
collaboration with Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Network and liaise with relevant stakeholders,
including in government, civil society, NGOs and
communities; as well as technical specialists in
partner agencies
Coordinate multi-sectoral interventions at
community, regional and national levels
Track budget project and expenditures
Qualifications
Masters degree or higher in education or related
field
Minimum of 5 years implementing basic and non-formal
education programs in developing countries
Experience in formal, non-formal and vocational
education, including student assessment, teacher
training, educational materials, educational systems,
monitoring and evaluation
Experience working with ministries of education,
networks of educators, employers organizations and
trade union representatives or comparable entities
Knowledge of exploitative child labor issues and
experience with child rights programming desirable
Experience in conflict/post-conflict settings
desirable
Strong writing and editorial skills
