OK, just for fun, I checked with Snopes to see what they had to say about La
Prise's "death." It also includes several other jokes of varying degrees of
humor.

The La Prise joke is toward the end, and apparently dates back at least to
the death of the Queen Mum.

Kendall

An unreasonable man (but my wife says that's redundant!)

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one
persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress
depends on the unreasonable man.

-George Bernard Shaw 1856-1950
