Do any of you have an actual homemade recipe for French onion soup, with the cheese and (gf) bread, that is not based on a beef broth? (I can't mix cheese with meat, for kosher reasons.) I've used Lipton in the past, but as good as it is, it's not the same flavor as restaurant French onion soup. What cheese do you use? (I use shredded mozzarella.) Is there a specific bread that you find to work best...and not give the soup a gf aftertaste?
Thanks, Lin
