Thanks to everyone for your responses to my question about dried beans.
Of the many people who replied, only two reported having what may have been a gluten reaction to eating beans. One family reacted to mixed beans packaged with gluten-containing flavor packets. They have no problem with beans that are not packaged with flavor packets. Another person had a gluten-type reaction to beans and gave them up.
Although no one else reported having a reaction, several people reported finding toxic grains mixed with their dried beans. Someone reported that lentils are rotated with wheat and barley in growing fields. Two people reported finding barley and/or wheat in their lentils. Several people warned to check for barley in packages of mixed beans because barley may not be declared as an ingredient. One person found something that may have been wheat in a package of lima beans. There was also a warning about risk of contamination in processing facilities.
In addition to this information, people were very compassionate in sharing ideas about what may account for our difficulty in lowering my son's antibody levels. I am deeply appreciative to each of you for your wisdom and support.
I wish the best to all of you,
Elizabeth
