Hello Everyone!

OK Celiac Support Group has a lot happening! We hope you will be a part.
Here's the scoop:

NEXT MEETING IS TUESDAY, MARCH 13
Program: FDA's proposed "Gluten Free" Labeling

Location: Conference Rooms J, K and L at Integris Baptist Hosptial, OKC

Time: 6:30 p.m. - Meet and Greet
7:00 p.m. - Meeting

Our March support group meeting will feature our very own dietitian, Sherry
Hubbard. Ms. Hubbard will speak on the FDA’s proposed “gluten free”
labeling, which at this point is to allow companies to label food as “gluten free”
if it contains less than 20 parts per million. Good idea? You be the
judge. Join us on March 13, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. to learn more about the FDA
proposal. We will also be writing letters to the FDA to support your view of the
proposal.
The FDA is currently considering regulations which would allow companies
to label food as “gluten free” if it contains less than 20 parts per million
of gluten.
Currently, there is no regulation of the use of the term “gluten free” by
companies within the United States. The FDA is seeking to provide a uniform
standard for the use of “gluten free” or similar language on food products.
The current proposal only considers wheat, barley and rye as offending
grains, and not oats.

This is a very significant event. You should be well informed and have your
voice heard.
GF RESTAURANT OUTING MONDAY APRIL 2nd
On Monday, April 2, at 6:00 pm, we will gather at El Parian Mexican
Restaurant in Edmond for a wonderful gluten free dining experience. El Parian is
located on the southwest corner of 2nd and Broadway in Edmond.
This is a great opportunity to interact with other celiac and learn tips on
how to dine out safely on the gluten free diet.
El Parian now carries the new gluten free beer, Redbridge by Budweiser.
You, your family and friends are all invited. It is important that we give
El Parian a fairly accurate head count, so please let us know if you plan on
attending. We will have a sign up sheet at the March meeting. Or
