Hi -
A while back I wrote with questions about my grandson - now 18 months old -
who was losing weight, appeared to have stomach pain, irritability, eczema,
allergies, very smelly bowel movements, extremely sensitive to dairy....My
daughter put him on a wheat free diet and he felt better, started to gain
weight and appeared to feel better.
It took the weight loss (he is only 18 lbs +/-) to have the pediatrician
refer to GI doc. My daughter took him to Hershey Medical - where the GI doc
ran multiple tests to rule out other possible causes....including telling
her to put him back on a gluten diet for 6 weeks prior to the biopsy. She
did - but not sure how much gluten he consumed...They did a biopsy - and the
doc told told my daughter the result is negative.
I am sure this child has celiac disease and am now afraid they will not
pursue this because the professionals said it is NOT celiac disease.
Please - anyone with a a similar experience? Any helpful suggestions?
Anyone with reports about negative biopsies under age two ?
Thanks-
Deb
