Latest score: Nigeria 2-0 Morocco
Finidi George gave Nigeria the lead midway through the first half in
their final group game.
Julius Aghahowa added a second nine minutes from time to leave
Morocco's quarter-final hopes dependant on Congo equalising against
Tunisia in the other final group game in Kano.
Morocco's Hadji could be returning to Coventry sooner rather than later
A draw between Nigeria and Morocco would ensure that both teams
qualified for the quarter-finals, but a positive result for either
could allow the winner of the other to edge in front.
If both games had ended 1-0 then the Moroccans would have survived due
to their superior goal difference to the Tunisians.
But they now need to either score a consolation goal in this match or
hope that Congo score against Tunisia.
Clash of Titans
The two teams went into this battle in Lagos, locked in a verbal war
over who can claim to be the continent's leading side.
The north Africans have been ranked by Fifa as the No 1 team in Africa
for more than a year with the star-studded Nigerians a full 14 places
behind, largely due to inacitivity.
