You need to get very specific, as to what CPU and what motherboard.    Possible for a chip to install in the socket and still not work.   Go to the motherboard makers specs and see what chips it supports.   I am giving you a link to see just what that chart looks like.   You will see what I mean.   Motherboard makers provide their compatability lists such as this one.   Just research the support for it.
