Phil,

I know of the station you are talking about, and it's too bad they are so
unresponsive. I thought Christian stations in particular and even radio in
general was about serving and interacting with listeners. Not any more, I
guess.

>A few years ago, we were visiting different churches. One particular
>church
>we decided to visit had a live call in prayer program late on Saturday
>nights. I really liked the way the pastor conducted himself on the radio
>so
>we visited several times. The Lord told me one Sunday, as I was in the
>service, this was not the church he wanted me to be a part of of so I asked
>the Lord why, then, am I hear. The Lord said, this is the church Trenton,
>that's my oldest son, will join. A few months later, my son talked to me
>about where he and his girlfriend should go to church. He had continued
>going to this same church. I told him what the Lord had told me that one
>Sunday I was there and this man became my son's pastor and even conducted
>my
>son's wedding. So, this guy, this same pastor who was on the radio with a
>prayer line Saturday nights, was preaching and in his sermon, he said that
>he was at the station one night and when the live broadcast was over, he
>was
>walking down the hall to leave the building. He walked passed an open door
>where one of the night announcers was sitting. The announcer was on the
>phone, apparently, based upon the conversation, talking to a friend. The
>pastor said the man was using every four letter word in the book,
>including,
>he said, the F word. He was so shocked because he thought this was a
>Christian station. It is, of course. He continued walking down the hall
>and then stopped and turned around and walked right into the room where the
>guy still was and told him to get off the phone. He hung up and the pastor
>burned the hide right off of him and left nothing out. The announcer, not
>aware anybody had heard him of course, apologized, big repentance there,
>but
>the pastor told him that if he ever heard anything like that from him
>again,
>he would go straight to the manager and report him. A lot of good that
>would have done. I talked to the manager myself about three years ago. I
>called and told him I wanted to by, in cash sort of speak, 3,000 dollars
>worth of commercials. This would have amounted to about 100 commercials.
>At first, when I called, I had to leave a message because he was busy, of
>course, and when he didn't return my call, I left another message. Days
>passed and no return phone call. I finally called the office and the lady
>wanted to switch me to the man's voice mail because he was busy. Hey,
>nobody is that busy to take your 3,000 dollar check up front. I told the
>lady that the manager didn't think it was important to return customers
>calls and told her I had left two messages over a week and he never called
>back. You could tell she didn't believe me. After all, I'm just a
>Christian jerk with a 3,000 dollar check, cash on the barrel head, wanting
>to buy simple commercial time on their station. Maybe they didn't need the
>money, I don't know. So, this indignant manager called me back, after the
>secretary told him what I had said. He was clearly mad when he called and
>told me that he was a very busy man. I told him I was busy, too, but I was
>interested in buying 3,000 dollars worth of commercials and I would pay up
>front right now. He asked me a few questions, said they had super high
>standards for advertisers on their station, what a joke, I've heard some
>of
>those commercials he was referring to, and he'd send me some application
>forms. Let me ask you unbiased echurch readers. Do you think he ever sent
>me the application forms? Good guess. This is the same station whose
>announcers don't answer their phones no matter when you call. Honestly, I
>wonder how they make any money. Certainly not from me. How does that
>sound. Say, maybe the manager is the announcer who plays the music. I bet
>that's it. No wonder he is busy.
