I recently contacted a company about their chocolate covered sunflower
seeds (because no ingredients were given on the "bulk" packaging). They
informed me that their product was not gluten-free because it contained
vanillin.
Since I've used Hershey's miniature chips in some of my recipes and the
chips contain vanillin, I contacted them asking if they were
gluten-free. They assured me they were.
I also notice vanillin as the ingredient in the gluten-free Chocolate
Chip cookie mix from another major company who manufacturers gluten free
products.
So, now I am confused. Can anybody tell me if vanillin is "safe" or
not?
Thanks,
Deann in Kent, WA
