Just out of curiosity, is it possible to "extract" service packs  from a 
working copy of windows?

SP will  not be SOLD soon. (There are exceptions to that and the real "final"
date  is about another 8 months for certain channel partners.)
The support will  go on for years.

You don't need (XP) SP1, it is included in (XP)  SP2...
